The Team Behind the Amsterdam Time Machine

The Amsterdam Time Machine is coordinated by the CREATE research program at the University of Amsterdam and powered by a consortium of researchers and institutions. The project is run by a dedicated team of researchers and programmers, who work closely together with societal partners and local communities.


Prof. dr. Julia Noordegraaf is CREATE’s project leader. She is Professor of Heritage and Digital Culture and director of the Amsterdam Centre for Cultural Heritage and Identity (ACHI).

Boudewijn Koopmans is project manager of the Amsterdam Time Machine. He is involved in forging new partnerships and the generation of additional funding that will help bring the realization of the ATM dream closer.

Dr. Janna Aerts is a postdoctoral researcher working on the subproject ‘Digital interfaces for polyphonic historiography’ within the Amsterdam Time Machine project. This project is focused on the South-East part of Amsterdam (Bijlmer).

Nynke Anna van der Mark RMA is Junior Researcher at the Amsterdam Time Machine project. She is a historian, involved with the subproject of Amsterdam Haven-Stad. Next to being a researcher, she is also a lecturer in Political Science.

Leon van Wissen MA is programmer. He has studied Dutch and specialised in computational linguistics and literature. As part of the core team of CREATE, he supports the Amsterdam Time Machine project on a structural basis.
